New Zealand’s T20 World Cup Hopes Dashed

The New Zealand team had to wrap up in the league group of the Twenty20 World Cup. In Group C, New Zealand lost their first two matches to Afghanistan and West Indies, dashing their Super 8 dreams. After this tournament, veteran fast bowler Trent Boult announced that this was his last Twenty20 World Cup.

Trent Boult’s Farewell Announcement

Since his debut in 2011, Trent Boult has become the key bowler for the Kiwi team. He has appeared in many finals for New Zealand in all three formats. The left-arm fast bowler has played four Twenty20 World Cups since 2014. “As far as I’m concerned, this will be my last Twenty20 World Cup. That’s all I have to say,” Bolt said at the press conference. He announced this after New Zealand’s 9-wicket victory over Uganda.

It’s hard to digest this disappointing performance. We’re disappointed not to make it to the next round. But when you get to represent the country, it’s a proud moment,” he said. New Zealand has shown consistency by reaching at least the semi-finals in every major ICC tournament since 2014.

Let’s keep going,” he said
