No Indian Umpires or Referees in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

No Indian umpires in Champions Trophy: The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan from 19 February to 9 March 2025. While the Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai. No Indian match officials have been appointed for this tournament

Indiaโ€™s Absence in Umpire & Referee Panel in Champions Trophy

Indian pace bowler Javagal Srinath is a match referee of the ICC Elite Panel, while Nitin Menon is an umpire of the ICC Elite Panel.

According to TOI reports, Menon has refused to go to Pakistan due to personal reasons and under the ICCโ€™s neutral umpire policy, he could not umpire in Dubai either.

The ICC has released a list of 15 match officials for the Champions Trophy, which includes three match referees and 12 umpires. Experienced umpires Richard Kettleborough, Chris Gaffney, Kumar Dharmasena, Richard Illingworth, Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker have also umpired in the 2017 edition.

Australiaโ€™s David Boon, Sri Lankaโ€™s Ranjan Madugalle and Zimbabweโ€™s Andrew Pycroft have been appointed as match referees. Of these, Boon has been a referee in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Madugalle in the 2013 final and Pycroft in the 2017 tournament.

Srinath Takes Leave from ICC

Srinath is currently playing the role of match referee during the white-ball series (IND Vs ENG). He has sought leave from the ICC for the Champions Trophy.

Srinath said in a conversation with the Times of India that yes I have asked for leave from the ICC because I have not gone home for a long time (November, December and January).

Let us tell you that David Boon, Ranjan Madugalle and Andrew Pycroft, all members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, are included in the three-member team of referees for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The names of both Srinath and Menon were missing from the list of 12 umpires and 3 match referees announced by the ICC on Wednesday. Srinath is the only Indian in the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees while Menon is the only Indian in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires.
