Joe Root and Harry Brook Shine on Day 3
The visitors are in full force on day three of the first Test between Pakistan and England. England’s veteran batsman Joe Root scored his record 35th Test century, surpassing 4 former captains. After Root, England’s Harry Brook has also scored a century. This is Brook’s sixth century in his Test career. Brook has also completed his fourth consecutive century against Pakistan. Brook broke Imran Khan’s record with this century.Also, Brook got lucky during this century. Brooke Stump was not out even after hitting the ball.
Brook completed this century on the third day in the third and final session. Brook came in after England lost their third wicket. Brooke scored his half-century in just 49 balls. Brook then completed the 100-run milestone in 118 balls with the help of 1 six and 8 fours. Brooke had previously scored centuries in Test matches during the 2022 tour of Pakistan.
Brooke scored one of those centuries in Multan. Now Brooke has once again scored a century in Multan. Brook also equaled Mohinder Amarnath and Arvinda D’Silva’s record for most Test centuries in Pakistan. Amarthan scored 18 and Arvinda de Silva scored 4 centuries in 17 innings. Harry scored 4 centuries in just 6 innings against Pakistan.
Harry Brook has also broken the record of former Pakistan captain Imran Khan. Imran Khan scored only 3 centuries in his Test career. Imran scored 123 against Windies in 1980. Team India scored centuries in 1983 and 1989. Imran scored 117 runs in Faisalabad in 1983 and 109 runs in Karachi in 1989.
Harry Brook got lucky during this century. Harry Brook survived despite the ball hitting the stumps. Harry defends the ball from Amir Jamal. But the ball then hit Brook’s helmet.
