According to the news agency Sama News in Pakistan, Gary Kirsten and Azhar Mehmood have complained to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. They said in the complaint that Shaheen Afridi misbehaved during the tour of Ireland and England as well as during the Twenty20 World Cup. His behavior hurt the team.

Ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup 2024, Gary Kirsten was appointed as the coach of Pakistan’s Twenty20 team. The position had been vacant since Mickey Arthur stepped down as coach. Arthur was succeeded by Mohammad Hafeez as Pakistan’s team director but was sacked after the team’s disappointing performances in New Zealand and Australia. Gary Kirsten’s career was reviewed when he played 101 Test matches for South Africa, in which he scored 21 centuries and 34 fifties. Kirsten scored 6 thousand 798 runs with 12 centuries and 45 fifties while playing 185 matches in ODI cricket.
