Parthiv Patel Set to Replace Gary Kirsten as Gujarat Titans’ Batting Mentor

Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, the franchises are in turmoil. Franchises have started a scramble to make changes in the coaching staff. Some franchises have chosen new persons as head coaches. Meanwhile, another piece of news has come to light. Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel will replace Pakistan’s white ball head coach Gary Kirsten.

Gary Kirsten was the batting coach and mentor of Gujarat Titans last season. However, he decided to leave Gujarat Titans and join the Pakistan Cricket Team as the head coach of the White Ball Team. So his place is vacant and Parthiv Patel can replace Gary Kirsten in Gujarat Titans.

According to a report in Times of India, Gujarat Titans are all set to give Parthiv Patel a big responsibility. Parthiv Patel can be the batting mentor of the Gujarat Titans.

Ashish Nehra to Join Coaching Staff

Former cricketer Ashish Nehra may join the coaching staff. Gary Kirsten was part of Gujarat Titans in IPL from 2022 onwards. Gujarat Titans won the title in 2022. Then the final round was reached in 2023. Gujarat’s status in 2024 IPL has deteriorated. Gary Kirsten then left Gujarat and was appointed as the coach of the Pakistan team.

On the other hand, Parthiv has played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and 2 T20Is for the country at international level. Also, one player has played in the IPL till 2020. Played for Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2010. Since then Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians have been part of the team.

Parthiv Patel’s Journey

Parthiv Patel has a special connection with Gujarat. Parthiv has represented Gujarat in domestic cricket. In 2016-2017, Gujarat won the Ranji Trophy for the first time by defeating Mumbai. Parthiv Patel has played for Team India in all three formats.

Parthiv Patel made his international debut in 2002. The youngest wicketkeeper to play Tests for India. Parthiv retired from all formats of cricket in December 2020.
