All the franchises have released their retention list for the mega auction to be held for IPL-2025. Many surprising decisions have been seen in this list. Royal Challengers Bengaluru has not retained its stormy batsman Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell is not angry with this, rather he hopes that he will return to RCB.
Maxwell was bought by RCB for 14.25 crores in the last mega auction. He came to RCB from Punjab Kings. Maxwell benefited the team a lot with his stormy batting but Maxwell was not retained before this mega auction.

Maxwell’s Understanding of the Decision
Usually, when a franchise does not retain a player, he is disappointed but this is not the case with Maxwell. Maxwell has credited the conversation held by the franchise behind this. Maxwell has said that team coaches Mo Bobat and Andy Flower talked to him, which made him understand why RCB took this decision. Glenn Maxwell said on the Around the Wicket podcast, “I was called by Mo Bobat and Andy Flower. It was a Zoom call.
They explained to me the reason behind not retaining me. It was a great farewell meeting. We talked about the game for half an hour. I am very happy with it.” Maxwell said, “If every team does this, then it will keep the relationship good. I cannot tell you how well he talked to me and explained the situation. He is also changing some of his staff, so before that, he has started talking to the players.”

The journey is not over yet Glenn Maxwell has indicated that his RCB journey is not over yet. He said, “I understand that this process will take a little time. But I understand in which direction he is going. He needed three Indians to form his core team and hopefully, foreign players can help in this. I will not say that my RCB journey is over. I would like to return there.
