In such a situation, in the meeting held in Mumbai on January 12, Prabhtej was elected unopposed as the new treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This is the first time that a representative of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association (CSCS) will hold such a big responsibility in the BCCI.
Let us tell you that after becoming the new treasurer of BCCI, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will hold his post till September 2025. After this, he will be eligible to contest elections again. According to the rules of BCCI, the tenure of each official is three years and they can hold this post for three consecutive times. There is also a mandatory cooling-off period of three years between each term.

Background of Prabhtej Singh Bhatia
Born in Raipur in 1991, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia is the son of the stateโs veteran industrialist and social worker Baldev Singh Bhatia. Both have a great passion for cricket, which is why they took state cricket to new heights. Prabhtej Singhโs father Baldev Singh has also been the President of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association (CSCS). Prabhtej received his schooling in Shimla. After this, he did a course in Finance in Economics Honors from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
New Secretary of BCCI
In addition to Bhatiaโs appointment, the BCCI also saw a change in leadership with Devjit Saikia being appointed as the new secretary. Saikia replaces Jay Shah, who took over as the ICC Chairman. This reshuffling reflects the ongoing developments within the BCCIโs structure. With both Bhatia and Saikia stepping into their roles with a mandate until September 2025.
