In Monday’s match, the Chennai Super Kings batted first and set a target of 215 runs against the Lucknow Supergiants due to  excellent performances by Rituraj Gaikwad and  Devon Conway. In the second innings, Lucknow came out to chase the target. The Supergiants also made a solid start with a tremendous counterattack from opener KYLE MAYERS. However, due to poor performances from other batsmens, Lucknow Supergiants faced a 12-run defeat.

The current Purple Cap holder is Lucknow Supergiants fast bowler Mark Wood, who has taken 8 wickets in 2 matches so far.
