Rahul Dravid’s Possible Exit as Team India’s Head Coach: Strong Offers from Two Teams on the Horizon!

Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended along with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After the T20 World Cup in 2021, Rahul Dravid assumed the role of head coach for Team India.

Following the conclusion of Ravi Shastri’s tenure, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah persuaded Dravid to take over the position.

Media reports suggest that Rahul Dravid is in discussions with IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). If negotiations proceed favorably, Dravid could potentially become LSG’s mentor before the IPL 2024 season.

However, final decisions will hinge upon a possible meeting between Dravid and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It seems improbable that Dravid will seek an extension of his tenure.

Dravid desires to allocate more time to his family. Yet, due to the Indian team’s demanding schedule and constant travel, finding time with his family seems challenging.

Joining an IPL team would afford Dravid more time with his family, considering the tournament spans only two months. The Lucknow Super Giants franchise is enthusiastic about adding Rahul Dravid to their setup.

Moreover, with Gautam Gambhir’s shift to Kolkata Knight Riders, the mentorship position at LSG has become vacant.

There are also offers for Rahul Dravid from his former team. Notably, Rajasthan Royals (RR) is keen on recruiting Rahul Dravid.

He has previously participated in the IPL both as a player and later as a coach for Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, Dravid has also been involved with India-A and the NCA.

Overall, Rahul Dravid’s potential move to an IPL team remains undecided, pending discussions with BCCI, and his interest in balancing family time with professional commitments.
