Mohammad Kaif Suggests RCB Should Consider Rohit Sharma for Captaincy
Rohit Sharma, one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL, should be roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru if he comes in the mega auction, opined the former India player. Recently BCCI announced some new rules ahead of the IPL auction. As per the new rules, each franchise can now retain six players. Indian team captain and former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is expected to be retained by the Mumbai franchise. However, if the hitman comes in the auction, RCB should consider taking him, Mohammad Kaif said.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai has won the IPL title five times. However, last year, the Mumbai franchise put the captaincy on Hardik Pandya. However, the fans of the Mumbai team, one of the most glamorous teams, were upset. As soon as Hardik entered the field, the fans started trolling him. IPL 2024 is like a bad dream for Hardik Pandya… Under his leadership, Mumbai managed to win only 4 out of 14 matches.
Under the leadership of Hardik, Gujarat Titans managed to win the title in their debut season. In his second season, he had to settle for a runner-up position. On the other hand, RCB is yet to win the IPL even once. Legends like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, and Zaheer Khan have represented this team but the success has not yet come. RCB reached the final in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
Speaking on Star Sports, Mohammad Kaif said that if Rohit Sharma comes into the auction, RCB should consider it. They can also look at Rohit as a captain. He might not play big knocks but I am sure Rohit knows well how to build the playing eleven. I think Rohit should play only as captain in the IPL. His performance as a leader is at its best. He recently led India to win the World Cup. He should consider the captaincy if offered by any franchise
