Rohit BGT Update: Now it is completely clear that Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not be able to participate in the first Test match against Australia starting on November 22. There were ifs and buts regarding Rohit for the last few days.
But according to the report, Rohit has taken time to spend some days with the family after the birth of his son on Friday. Now Rohit Sharma will join the team a few days before the second day-night Test match starting on December 4.
Family Commitments Keep Rohit Out of Perth Test
Meanwhile, Rohit has already informed BCCI and Ajit Agarkar and Company that he may be out of the Perth Test. By the way, Rohit had also kept the option of going to Australia open at the last moment. The Indian captain was also practising and gymming regularly.
But, when the son was born about a week before the first Test. Everyone including crores of fans had assumed that Rohit would play in the first Test considering the situation of the team, but now it is clear that Rohit will not go to Australia.
Rohit to Return for Adelaide Warm-Up
Now Rohit has told the board that he will take part in the two-day pink-ball warm-up match to be played before the day-night test. This match will be played in Adelaide. Now vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team in the first Test.
Bumrah has previously captained against England at Edgbaston in the year 2021-22. Then Rohit got infected with Covid-19.
Rohit’s unavailability means that Team India will take the field without its two-star players in the first Test. Injured Gill will also not be able to play in the first Test.
Earlier either KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran were contenders to start the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, but now the chances are that both these batsmen can play in the XI.
