Thanks to the aggressive innings of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the last T20 match. Due to the brilliant fifties of Cameron Green and Tim David,  the Australian team gave the Indian team a target of 187 runs. Chasing the target, the Indian team won by losing 4 wickets with one ball remaining. After the victory, a unique style of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma was seen. Often after a win, the captain hands over the trophy to the youngest player of the team. However, Rohit did something different after the series win over Australia.

Rohit Sharma handed over the trophy to the oldest player of the team, Dinesh Karthik. Karthik, 37, is the senior-most player in the team. Karthik made his debut in the Indian team in 2004. Just a few months back, he made his place in the Indian team in a dramatic way, and now he has achieved the title of India’s best finisher in the shortest format of cricket.

Dinesh Karthik did not get many chances to bat against Australia. Dinesh Karthik was dismissed for just 6 runs in the first match played in Mohali. After this, in Nagpur, Karthik finished the match in his style by scoring 10 runs in 2 balls. He remained unbeaten on one run in the deciding match in Hyderabad.

Rohit has made it clear by giving Karthik a chance in consecutive matches against Australia that he will play for India at number six. In such a situation, Rishabh Pant may have to sit on the bench.
