During the press conference, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma announced his selection, telling him about the advantages over other spinners. He said that he has the X-factor. That’s why he wants to keep the doors open for this mysterious spinner.
“Yeah, he has definitely shown something different. I understand it’s the T20 format, but there’s clearly something different about him. So we just wanted an option and wanted to see what we could do with him,”
Rohit Sharma said that seeing his performance in the ODI series, he can be made a part of the team in the upcoming multinational event. So this is a great opportunity to see his performance.
If he can perform well in 50 overs cricket, then the chances of his selection in the future will increase a lot.
‘Obviously, his ability can be tested by his performance in this series. We have confirmed his claim. If things go according to our plan, then we can take some upcoming decisions.’
Varun Chakraborty was seen bowling with the batsmen during the practice match before the Nagpur ODI series. If Varun Chakraborty is made a part of the team, then it will also be interesting to see who remains out of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav if Varun gets a chance.
