Rohit Sharma Likely to Miss First Test Against Australia

Rohit Sharma

India’s captain Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia due to personal reasons. The first match of the series is set to take place on November 22 in India. This series is very important for both teams. Especially after India defeated Australia in their home ground, making the Border-Gavaskar Trophy a highly anticipated and significant event.

Abhimanyu Easwaran is a potential replacement for Rohit Sharma

According to a PTI report, Rohit Sharma has excused himself from the first Test match, though there is no official confirmation yet from the BCCI. It remains unclear whether Rohit will play all five Test matches or if he will miss just the first one. If Rohit is absent, Abhimanyu Easwaran could be included in the team as his replacement.

Additionally, India has not yet appointed a vice-captain for the Test format. BCCI will need to decide on a captain for the first match. Ravichandran Ashwin, being the most experienced player, is a strong candidate, followed by Jasprit Bumrah. If the BCCI wants to give young players a chance, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill could also be considered as captain options.

It is speculated that Rohit Sharma might miss the first Test due to the birth of his second child. Recently, Rohit’s wife Ritika was seen at an event, and she appeared to be pregnant. So fans believe that Rohit wants to be with his wife during this important time.
