Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav are two specialist spinners while the other options in the spin department are Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar who are all very capable batsmen. The team has three fast-bowling options in the form of Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana while Hardik Pandya is the only fast-bowling all-rounder.
When Rohit Sharma appeared before the media on the eve of the match against Bangladesh, when asked about the presence of more spinners in the team, he said, “There are only two spinners, the rest are all-rounders. They can both bat and bowl.” He said, “In the rest of the teams, fast bowlers are all-rounders, so they say that they have selected six fast bowlers which is a good thing.

India’s Preparation for Rain and Dew in Dubai
Rohit said before India’s first match of the tournament against Bangladesh, “We play according to our strength. The three all-rounders Jadeja, Akshar, and Washington give a different dimension to the team, they add a lot to the team. We wanted two skill players instead of one.”
It has been raining in Dubai for the last few days and India may have to face this weather in the first match against Bangladesh on Thursday. In such a situation, the role of dew will become important. Rohit said, “We have the resources to face it. When the conditions are favourable for the bowlers, we have bowlers to take advantage of it and when it comes to batting, we know what to do.”

On the inclusion of Chakraborty at the last moment, he said, “He does not put many variations in the nets but bowls the ball in the same way. He does not want to tell how many arrows he has in his quiver. This is a good thing. He has special weapons which he will use when the opportunity arises.”
Talking about the tournament being held after eight years, Rohit said, “Like all ICC competitions, this is a very important tournament. We have to do a lot of things right to win the trophy.”
