Rohit Sharma Rises to No. 2 in Latest ICC ODI Rankings 2025

ICC ODI Rankings 2025: Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has climbed to the second spot in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings released on August 13, 2025. The 38-year-old gained one place despite not playing any international match since the IPL 2025 season. His rise is due to the drop in performance of Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who slipped to third after a poor series against the West Indies.

Currently, Rohit has 756 rating points, just 28 behind Shubman Gill who holds the top spot with 784 points. Babar Azam is now third with 751 points. Virat Kohli is fourth with 736 points. Both Rohit and Virat will get a chance to improve their rankings in the upcoming ODI series against Australia in October.

Some earlier media reports suggested they might retire from ODI cricket after the Australia series, but there has been no confirmation.

Both senior players are preparing for future challenges. Rohit is currently training in Mumbai with former Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nair, while Virat Kohli is doing indoor net practice sessions.
