Sarfaraz Khan in BGT: Sarfaraz Khan had almost secured his place in the middle order by scoring 150 runs against New Zealand. However, due to poor performance in the next two matches, questions have once again been raised about his position in the team. Sarfaraz Khan also struggled in the Test series played against England where he faced significant criticism for his inconsistent performances.
India’s Middle-Order Woes: Is Dropping Sarfaraz Khan the Right Call?
The first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is set to be played in Perth. Team India aims to secure its place in the WTC final by delivering an outstanding performance in this series. For this, the Indian team will have to defeat Australia 4-0 in the series.
Despite having experienced players like Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the team. The middle order of the team looks very weak, although the Indian team has talented players like Sarfaraz Khan, Lokesh Rahul and Dhruv Jurel.
Team India coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma have opted to include Lokesh Rahul and wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel in the team in place of Sarfaraz Khan. Dhruv Jurel had performed well in the test match played against Australia-A.
However, former Indian team player and commentator Aakash Chopra has criticised this decision. He has supported Sarfaraz Khan and said that the Indian team should include Sarfaraz Khan in the middle order. Sarfaraz Khan has proved his ability by scoring 150 runs against New Zealand. He further added,
“A player should get enough opportunities, only then he can perform well for himself and his team”.
There is still no clear update on Shubman Gill’s injury. The team can also include Sarfaraz Khan in BGT in place of Shubhman Gill.
