Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has faced continuous criticism for his recent poor bowling performances. In response to comments made by white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten. Shaheen stated that Kirsten has unnecessarily made workload management a big issue.

The left-arm fast bowler struggled in the second Test match against Bangladesh due to poor form, which has persisted for some time. He also failed to perform in the Champions Cup and proved expensive as captain of the Lions team. He conceding too many runs and delivering poor leadership.

During the tournament, Pakistan’s white-ball coach Gary Kirsten took a jab at Shaheen Afridi, pointing out that the bowler has bowled three times more overs than any other fast bowler in the world over the last 18 months. Shaheen Afridi responded by saying that each player’s performance is individual, and workload plays a significant role in that. He cited Pakistan’s legendary fast bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who didn’t face the same workload issues.

Speaking to Sama TV, Shaheen Afridi said that over the last year, too much emphasis has been placed on his workload, and any player needs to be both physically and mentally strong to perform well. He emphasized that managing workload is key to achieving peak performance.

Many cricket experts and fans have expressed concerns about Shaheen Afridi’s workload. They suggesting that the fast bowler needs rest to avoid burnout and injury.

Shaheen Afridi is expected to feature in the upcoming three-match Test series against England. The first match set to take place in Multan from October 7. He is the part of Pakistan’s squad for the series.
