India’s legendary opener Shikhar Dhawan has named the batsman whom he considers his best partner in the opening. Dhawan has given his opinion in an interview with Star Sports. Dhawan has named Rohit Sharma and not Shubman Gill as his favorite opening partner. Dhawan, who made his international debut during the ODI match against Australia in Visakhapatnam on 20 October 2010, has opened with Rohit in 115 ODIs for India and together they have scored 5148 runs, which makes them the fourth most successful opening pair in ODIs. According to Dhawan, his relationship with Rohit is very strong.

Shikhar Dhawan said about Rohit, “Rohit is my favorite opening partner, I have opened with Rohit for 8-10 years. My relationship with Rohit is also very strong. He is a great person. I have opened a lot with him and it was a lot of fun.”

Dhawan’s Impressive Career

In his 14-year-long career for India, Shikhar Dhawan has played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20 matches and scored 2315, 6793, and 1759 runs respectively. He holds the record for the most runs scored by an Indian batsman on Test debut and is the 10th-highest run scorer in ODIs for the Indian team. He was dropped from the ODI team after a flop show in the year 2022. Till now Dhawan has been waiting for a comeback in the team, but now it seems that his return is difficult
