Pakistan’s dream of winning the second T20 World Cup title was shattered after losing in the final match against England in Melbourne. Now Shoaib Akhtar has expressed hope that the Pakistan team will win the ODI World Cup title to be held in India next year.
Ben Stokes’ unbeaten half-century helped England win the championship for the second time by defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 after a scintillating bowling led by Sam Curran shattered Pakistan’s batting. Before this in 2010, England won the championship. England Won the first T20 World Cup title in the West Indies under the captaincy of Paul Collingwood. On the other hand, Pakistan was to play its third final but its dream of getting the second T20 World Cup title could not be fulfilled.
Pakistan’s team’s performance in the T20 World Cup was full of ups and downs. The team had to face criticism after losing two matches at the very beginning of the Super-12. The team’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar also criticized the Pakistan team. Now he looked very disappointed after the defeat against the English team in the final match. However, he also felt proud of his team’s performance. While supporting the team, he said that now we will win the title of the World Cup to be held in India. Next year the ODI World Cup will be organized in India.
Shoaib Akhtar said in a video posted on his Twitter, “You have done a wonderful job. You were close to being out of the tournament but still played the final. The bowling unit of Pakistan performed well throughout the World Cup. There was some luck, Pakistan played well and it deserved to be there. Shaheen’s injury was the turning point, but that’s okay. Now from here, we don’t have to let ourselves fall down.
He further said, “Ben Stokes hit sixes in the T20 World Cup 2016 and because of him England lost the match and today the team got rid of it by winning the World Cup. Pakistan I stand with you. No need to worry. I am disappointed and hurt too but ok. We stand with you as a nation. Relax, we will now win the World Cup in India.
