Shoaib Akhtar on Champions Trophy: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his views on the ongoing discussions regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is the host of the Champions Trophy, but the tournament is expected to be held on a hybrid model. The PCB has also agreed to this with some conditions.
Shoaib Akhtar’s Take on ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The PCB has demanded a higher revenue share and a hybrid model for ICC events held in India. On this, Shoaib Akhtar has now said that what the PCB is demanding is fine, but Pakistan should go to India and beat them there.
Shoaib Akhtar said on a Pakistani news channel, “You are being paid for the hosting rights and revenue and that is fine. We all understand this. Pakistan’s stand is also fair. They should have maintained a strong position, why not? Once we are able to host the Champions Trophy in our country and they are not ready to come, they should share the revenue with us at a higher rate. This is a good decision.”

Shoaib Akhtar Calls for a Strong Performance in India
The former fast bowler further said that in future ICC events, the PCB should send the Pakistan team to India and prepare a team that beats India at home. He said, “In case of playing in India in the future, we should extend a hand of friendship and go there.
I have always believed that play in India and beat them there. I understand that the hybrid model was already signed.” The Champions Trophy will be held in February-March. Pakistan was earlier adamant that the tournament should be held in Pakistan at any cost. However, India was not ready for this. Now this tournament can be held in a hybrid model.
