Travis Head played aggressive batting and scored 57 runs while Beau Webster played an innings of 23 runs. Prabhat Jayasuriya and Vandersay took three wickets each from Sri Lankaโs side.

In reply, Sri Lanka batted disappointingly in their first innings and the hosts collapsed at 165 runs. Dinesh Chandimal scored 72 runs from the teamโs side while captain Dhananjay de Silva contributed 22 runs. Mathew Kuhnemann took 5 wickets from Australiaโs side while Nathan Lyon took 3 wickets.
Despite the follow-on, Sri Lanka failed to bat well in the second innings as well and were all out at 247 runs. In the second innings, Angelo Matthews scored 41 runs for the hosts while Jeffrey Vandersay contributed 53 runs. In the second innings, Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon took 4 wickets each for Australia. Usman Khawaja was awarded the Player of the Match award for his excellent batting.
