South Africa Dominates Australia with Klaasen’s Century and Miller’s Blitz

In the fourth ODI of the five-match series between South Africa and Australia, South Africa defeated Australia by 164 runs, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen’s century and David Miller’s half-century. Even Alex Carey’s innings of 99 runs could not save the match for Australia.

South Africa won the fourth match of the five-match ODI series, leveling the series at 2-2. The final and decisive match of the series will be played on September 17.

Batting first, the South African team set a huge target for Australia, scoring 416 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 50 overs. Heinrich Klaasen was the top scorer, playing a century innings of 174 runs in 83 balls. During his innings, he hit 13 fours and 13 sixes, completing his century in just 57 balls.

In addition to Klaasen, David Miller played an unbeaten half-century, scoring 82 runs in 45 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Klaasen and Miller together formed a brilliant partnership of 222 runs (not out), the fastest double century partnership in a one-day match. Josh Hazlewood took a maximum of 2 wickets for Australia, while Marcus Stoinis, Michael Neser, and Nathan Ellis took one wicket each.

Australia, chasing the target, managed to score 252 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 34.5 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey was the highest run-scorer for Australia, contributing 99 runs in 77 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes.

However, even his excellent innings couldn’t secure a victory for the team. Tim David also played an innings of 35 runs in 25 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Carey and David had a partnership of 72 runs in 49 balls.

Travis Head got injured while batting, scoring 17 runs before leaving the field due to injury, which caused the Australian innings to conclude at 252. For South Africa, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took the most wickets with 4, while Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets, and Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj each took one wicket.
