South Africa Test Squad vs Zimbabwe 2025: Young Stars Like Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Dewald Brevis Selected

South Africa Test Squad vs Zimbabwe: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. The series, starting on June 28 in Bulawayo, will serve as a good warm-up after their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at Lord’s.
This tour gives South Africa a chance to test new talent, as several big names from the WTC Final have been rested
South Africa Name Squad for Zimbabwe Test Series
CSA has rested key players like Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada for this series. Veteran pacer Dane Paterson is also not in the squad, as he may retire after the WTC Final.
With six players missing, the selectors have picked five uncapped players for this tour. The most exciting name is 19-year-old Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who has scored three centuries in just five first-class matches. Alongside him, Dewald Brevis, Lesego Senokwane, Codi Yusuf, and Prenelan Subrayen could also make their Test debuts.
Dewald Brevis Included in the Squads
Dewald Brevis was part of South Africa’s Test squad during the Bangladesh tour last year but didn’t get to play. He now gets another opportunity after a strong domestic season, where he scored 573 runs in 12 innings, including two centuries and two fifties.
Brevis will be eager to make his mark and show that he belongs at the highest level.
South Africa will be without Gerald Coetzee (groin injury), Nandre Burger (back injury), and Lizaad Williams (recovering from knee surgery). To fill the gap, Kwena Maphaka will lead the pace attack with Lungi Ngidi. Anrich Nortje is also not part of the squad.
Despite the injuries, this series allows South Africa to build for the future with young talent.
