The Sri Lankan women’s cricket team won their first Asia Cup by defeating the Indian women’s team in the final at Pallekele. Sri Lanka, who had reached the final five times before but never won, chased down India’s target of 166 runs. Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets with 8 balls remaining. India’s fielding errors made it easier for Sri Lanka to secure their historic victory.

Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Attapattu and Harshita Madhavi played crucial roles in the win. Chamari scored 61 runs off 43 balls with 2 sixes and 9 fours. Harshita remained unbeaten with 69 runs off 51 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours. In the final overs, Kavisha Dilhari’s quick 30 runs helped seal the victory. Sri Lanka reached the target in 18.4 overs, scoring 167 for 2. Deepti Sharma took one wicket for India, while Vishmi Gunaratne was run out.
