New Zealand had already won the series by winning the first two matches of the three-match series. Sri Lanka batted first in this match played in Auckland and scored 290 runs for the loss of eight wickets. The New Zealand team collapsed after scoring just 150 runs in 29.4 overs. However, New Zealand was successful in winning the series 2-1.
The New Zealand team, which came out to chase the target of 291 runs, had a very bad start. It lost two wickets for just four runs. Will Young was dismissed without opening the account and Rachin Ravindra was dismissed after scoring one run. The line of wickets that started from here did not stop. Number three batsman Mark Chapman fought a bit while holding one end.

Daryl Mitchell (2), Tom Latham (0), and Glenn Phillips (0) returned to the pavilion early. Only four batsmen of the host team could reach double digits. Chapman scored the highest 81 runs for which he played the same number of balls and hit 10 fours. Apart from him, Mitchell Bracewell scored 13, Nathan Smith scored 17 and Matt Henry scored 12 runs.
For Sri Lanka, Ashita Fernando, Mahish Theekshana and Ehsan Malinga took three wickets each. Janith took one wicket.
Sri Lanka’s strong batting set the total at 290
The Sri Lankan batsmen batted well in this match. Pathum Nissanka scored the highest 66 runs for the team. He scored 66 runs in 42 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes. In his innings, this batsman hit six fours and five sixes. As soon as Nissanka completed his half-century, he got injured and went out. Later he came back.
Apart from him, Kusal Mendis scored 54 runs for Sri Lanka. Janith Liyanage played an innings of 53 runs. For this, he faced 52 balls and hit two sixes besides three fours. Kamindu Mendis was successful in scoring 46 runs
