Nuwan Thushara Ruled Out
Nuwan Thushara, known for his unique bowling action similar to Lasith Malinga, has suffered a finger injury during practice. Scans revealed a broken bone, ruling him out of the entire series. Thushara’s yorker deliveries are a key strength, making his absence a significant setback for the team. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed his injury and announced his replacement.
Replacements Announced
Dilshan Madushanka has been named as Thushara’s replacement. Additionally, Asitha Fernando has been included in the squad in place of Dushmantha Chameera. Madushanka’s recent performance in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) was not outstanding, with only two wickets in six matches. However, he has some experience, having played 23 ODIs and 14 T20Is, taking 41 and 14 wickets respectively. Notably, he took 21 wickets in nine matches during the World Cup 2023.
