India’s tour of South Africa starts this Sunday in Durban with a T20 match led by Suryakumar Yadav. The team practiced rigorously on Friday despite rain upon arrival.
Today, they enjoyed sunny training, shared on social media by BCCI with coach Rahul Dravid.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah withdrew from T20I and ODI series, returning before the first Test after the final T20 match in Johannesburg on December 14.
The three-match ODI series begins on December 17, followed by the Test series starting on December 26 at Centurion. 47 players will stay in South Africa for a month, including young talents Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Rituraj Gaikwad.
Despite the first match nearing, vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja, fast bowler Deepak Chahar, and opener Shubman Gill are absent.
Chahar’s father’s brain injury has him at home, set to join after recovery, while Jadeja heads to Durban on Saturday. Gill arrived post-vacation.
