Bangladesh Seeks Army Protection for Women’s T20 World Cup

Amidst the current political instability in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sought security from the army chief to ensure they successfully host the Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled from October 3 to 20 this year. With the tournament set for Sylhet and Mirpur, safety concerns have surfaced. If the security situation doesn’t improve, speculations suggest that the tournament might move to India, Sri Lanka, or the United Arab Emirates.

The Women’s T20 World Cup is to be held in Sylhet and Mirpur in Bangladesh. BCB umpiring committee chairman Iftikhar Ahmed said that Bangladesh is trying to make the tournament a success and we have sent a letter to the army chief for the World Cup because we have only two months left.

Bangladesh Team Prepares for Pakistan Tour Amid Unrest

Despite the unrest in Bangladesh, the national cricket team is preparing to leave for a tour of Pakistan. Originally scheduled to depart on August 17, the team will now leave five days earlier, on August 12

Bangladesh is set to play a two-Test series in Pakistan, starting on August 21. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended an offer to host the Bangladeshi team for an extended period, providing all necessary training facilities in Rawalpindi. The squad for the Test series is expected to be announced on August 11.

In light of the current situation, the BCB is working closely with both the Bangladesh and Pakistan governments to ensure the safety and success of the upcoming tour and the Women’s T20 World Cup.
