Tensions Surface in Team India Ahead of T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is just a few days away and it seems that everything is not going well between Team India captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

The controversy that started before IPL 2024 when Mumbai Indians removed Rohit and made Hardik Pandya the captain is still not over. Now the bad chemistry between these two players can become a cause of trouble in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Mumbai is out of the IPL playoff race and its 4 players Rohit, Hardik, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah are part of the Indian World Cup team.

Divisions Emerge Within Mumbai Indians Squad

But the Mumbai Indians team seems to be divided into two groups. This was evident even on the eve of the match against KKR at the Eden Gardens. When Rohit Sharma came for practice, Hardik was not present. After practice, Rohit was sitting on the fridge near the dugout, while many players including Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Verma were around him, but when Hardik Pandya reached the nets for batting practice, Rohit and the other players got up and went to the other side “It will have an impact on the T20 World Cup.”

Meanwhile, a video also went viral, in which Rohit was seen talking to KKR coach Abhishek Nair. In this, Rohit is heard saying that some things are changing.

Controversy Surrounds Hardik’s Selection

When Mumbai removed 5 trophy captain Rohit and handed over the command of the team to Hardik, his fans also did not like this decision. In the initial matches, Pandya also had to face the anger of the crowd and was trolled a lot on social media. But it was expected that things would calm down with time, but the controversy has not subsided yet.

Rohit Sharma will be the captain and Hardik will be the vice-captain in the T20 World Cup. India will face Ireland on June 5 and Pakistan four days later. But before that, when Team India’s World Cup team selection meeting was held in Ahmedabad under the leadership of chief selector Ajit Agarkar, many selectors including Agarkar and captain Rohit were not in favor of Hardik’s selection in the team.
