Challenges and Criteria for the Next Coach:
For the post of BCCI head coach, a contract of 3.5 years is preferred. But the famous coaches who were talked to earlier were reluctant to sign 10-month, even one-year contracts for the national team. Coaches expressed concerns about workload management while managing the national team across all formats. Along with IPL, other shorter formats also earn good money and do not have to spend much time. Therefore, the number of contenders for the post of national team coach is less. Team India’s schedule is very busy for the next three years. Hence, given workload management, the idea of split coaching i.e. different coaches came to the fore.
