West Indiesโ stormy batsman Chris Gayle is at the top in terms of scoring the most runs in the Champions Trophy. Gayle has now retired, but he used to create a stir when he played. This left-handed batsman played 17 matches in the Champions Trophy from 2002 to 2013. In 2004, West Indies also managed to win the title. Gayle scored 791 runs at an average of 52.73 during this period. He scored three centuries and one half-century.

2. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) โ 742 Runs
Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardeneโs name is at number two on this list. He played a total of 22 matches in the Champions Trophy from 2000 to 2013. This right-handed legendary batsman could not score a century but he scored 742 runs with five half-centuries and an average of 41.22
3. Shikhar Dhawan (India) โ 701 Runs
Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is at number three. If we look at the top-5 batsmen, this left-handed batsman played the least number of matches, i.e. 10. He participated in the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophy only.
In these two editions, Dhawan batted strongly and scored 701 runs in 10 matches at an average of 77.88, which includes three centuries and three half-centuries. Dhawan is also the highest run-scorer for India in the Champions Trophy.
4. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) โ 683 Runs
Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkaraโs name is number four in this case. This left-handed batsman played a total of 22 matches in the Champions Trophy between 2000 and 2013, in which he scored 683 runs at an average of 37.94. One century and four half-centuries came from his bat.
5. Sourav Ganguly (India) โ 665 Runs
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly participated in 13 matches of the Champions Trophy from 1998 to 2004. In so many matches, left-handed batsman Ganguly scored 665 runs at an average of 73.88. Three centuries and as many half-centuries came from his bat.
Among the players who scored the most runs in the Champions Trophy, two are from India and two from Sri Lanka. Another thing worth noticing is that four out of five batsmen are right-handed. Gayle, Dhawan, Sangakkara, and Ganguly are all right-handed batsmen while Jayawardene is the only right-handed batsman in the top-5.
