Virender Sehwag Rules Out Franchise Cricket: “I Am Too Old to Face Fast Bowling”

Virender Sehwag on franchise cricket: Former Indian veteran player Virender Sehwag was known for hitting the bowlers hard from the very first ball in his time. Sehwag was famous for hitting a four on the first ball of most matches of the tournament, he has thrashed fast bowlers like Dale Steyn, James Anderson and Umar Gul.

Virender Sehwag was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team, he announced his retirement from international cricket in October 2015.

Virender Sehwag: “I Am Too Old to Play Now

If any Indian player has recently retired from international cricket or IPL and if he wants to play, then this tournament is a great platform for him. Like Dinesh Karthik went to SA20 and he participated there. So, we would love to see some Indian players participating in DP World ILT20 as well.

I would love to see Yuvraj Singh playing in this tournament. He is the Sixer King, so yes. But I can’t play, I am too old to play now. I can’t handle fast bowling anymore.”

Sehwag was further asked to rate different leagues, to which he replied that he didn’t want to compare one franchise league with another. Because all the leagues come with their benefits and excitement among the fans.

“I can’t compare one league with another, because the leagues are happening for different countries. And it is good for the countries. IPL is good for India. BBL is good for Australia.

Similarly, ILT20 is good for UAE players and UAE, Middle East. So it is difficult to choose one league. But the good thing is that you do not see 9 international players playing in one team. This is happening only in DP World ILT20.
