Glenn Maxwell Reveals Instagram Block by Virat Kohli
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has revealed that star batsman Virat Kohli blocked him on Instagram after he mocked the latter following a shoulder injury during the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were not the best of friends until the Australian all-rounder joined IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 14.25 crore in 2021. Maxwell said that he tried to follow Kohli on Instagram but found out that he had been blocked by the former Indian captain.

A Change in Relationship
When I knew I was going to RCB, Virat was the first person to message me and welcome me to the team. Maxwell further said, “So, I go to his social media to follow him.
I hadn’t even thought about it before. It never really crossed my mind. I thought, ‘I can’t find him.’ I’m sure he’s on social media somewhere, so I didn’t think anything of it. It’s not really like maybe he wasn’t Instagram savvy.”
Glenn Maxwell further said, “Didn’t really understand why he wasn’t coming up in the search, and then, someone mentioned that ‘he must have blocked you. That’s the only way you’re not able to find him.’ I was like, ‘Definitely not’.”
During the 2017 Test series in India, Kohli suffered a shoulder injury while fielding during the Ranchi match. Later during the Test, Maxwell imitated Kohli by holding his right shoulder. Kohli, who couldn’t play the Dharamsala Test due to injury, didn’t like it.
Building a Friendship
Glenn Maxwell said, “I went and asked him ‘Have you blocked me on Instagram?’ And, he was like, ‘Yeah, probably, it was when you made fun of me during that Test match and I thought I decided to block you.’ Glenn Maxwell further said, “I said, ‘Yeah, that’s fair enough.’ So yes, he (then) unblocked me and after that, we became very good friends. We have had a very strange relationship.” Let us tell you, since then, both of them have resolved their differences while working together in RCB.

Glenn Maxwell said, “It was a nice little story, but we have had a very strange relationship till playing IPL together. Sharing that dressing room and sharing experiences, becoming parents, I think, almost at the same time.”
