West Indies keep their hope alive for Super-12
West Indies opened their account by registering their first win by defeating Zimbabwe. With this victory, the hope of reaching the West Indies in the Super 12 woke up. In Hobart West Indies and Zimbabwe played against each other. Batting first, West Indies scored 153 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. The Zimbabwe team, chasing the target of 154 runs, was reduced to 122 runs. After registering a 31-run win, the West Indies team made third place in the points table.
Alzarri Joseph’s four-wicket haul and a 45-run knock by Johnson Charles played an important role in West Indies victory. Jason Holder also struck three wickets. Chasing 154, Zimbabwe make a good start with Wesley Madhevere smashing 27 runs off 19 balls but later West Indies bowlers washed the team one by one and bundled out Zimbabwe at 122. For Zimbabwe, Luke Jongwe top-scored with 29 runs. During the bowling session, Sikandar Raza got three wickets, while Blessing Muzarabani and Sean Williams scalped two and one wickets, respectively
