Will Jasprit Bumrah Retire from Test Cricket?: Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may retire from Test cricket after the ongoing series against England. Kaif believes Bumrah might take this decision because he is no longer able to give his 100% for the team due to fitness issues.
Kaif Points Out Bumrah’s Struggles
In a recent video shared on social media, Kaif said that Bumrah didn’t look fit during the Manchester Test. While bowling, he seemed to be pushing himself too hard. Kaif mentioned that Bumrah’s bowling speed has also gone down. In the current match, his deliveries were mostly between 130 to 135 km/h, and sometimes even slower.
Kaif added, “Bumrah is a selfless player. If he feels he can’t take wickets, help the team win, or perform at his best, he may step away from Tests. This is my personal feeling.”
“Time to Get Used to Tests Without Bumrah” – Kaif
Kaif further advised Indian fans to prepare for Test cricket without Bumrah. He said, “His passion is still there, but his body is not supporting him anymore. He’s fighting with his fitness. In this Test match, it’s clear that he is struggling.”
Kaif also noted that during the Manchester Test, Bumrah bowled only one over with the second new ball and then left the field, looking uncomfortable. According to Kaif, this shows how tough things are getting for Bumrah in the longest format of the game.
Bumrah’s Body Breaking Down?
Jasprit Bumrah has had a long history of injuries, and managing his workload has been a challenge. Though he remains a key player in India’s bowling attack, Test matches demand more from a fast bowler’s body. Kaif believes that Bumrah might soon say goodbye to red-ball cricket to save his body for white-ball formats like ODIs and T20Is.
While nothing is official yet, Kaif’s comments have sparked serious discussions about Bumrah’s future in Test cricket. Only time will tell whether Bumrah will continue or choose to retire from the format where he has been one of India’s best pacers.
