Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, suffered a defeat against Delhi Capitals in the first match. They scored 164 runs batting first thanks to a brilliant half-century from Nat Sciver. At one point, it looked like they would cross the 200 mark, but a steady fall of wickets saw them bowled out for 164 with five balls to spare.

In reply, Shafali sealed the game in the powerplay, but Mumbai came back to seal the match. Needing 10 runs in the final over, Delhi Capitals won the game off the last ball.
