Zimbabwe Breaks Record with Highest Test Score Against Afghanistan

Zimbabwe Highest Test Score: Zimbabwe created history in the first match of the two-match series against Afghanistan at Queens Sports Club ground in Bulawayo. After winning the toss and batting first against Afghanistan, Zimbabwe scored 586 runs in the first innings and pushed Afghanistan on the back foot.

Zimbabwe Sets Record with Highest Test Score

Sean Williams, Craig Ervine and Brian Bennett scored centuries for Zimbabwe in this match. AM Ghazanfar, who is playing his debut Test, took three wickets for the visiting team.

This is Zimbabwe’s highest score in Test history. Zimbabwe had earlier scored the highest score in the Test against West Indies. In that Test in 2001, Zimbabwe declared the innings at 563 runs for the loss of 9 wickets against West Indies.

This was the sixth time that Zimbabwe crossed the 500-run mark in an innings of a Test. This is the fourth time Zimbabwe has crossed the 500 mark in the first innings. Let us tell you, three players have scored a century for Zimbabwe.

Three Centuries Shine for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe had a bad start after losing the toss and batting first and the team lost the wicket of Joylord Gumbi on a score of 43. Joylord Gumbi was out after scoring just 9 runs. But after this Ben Curran and Takudzwanashe Kaitano took the team out of the difficult situation by sharing 49 runs for the second wicket.

Ben Curran was out after scoring 68 runs while Takudzwanashe Kaitano missed a half-century and was out after scoring 46 runs. But after this, Sean Williams handled Zimbabwe’s innings from one end.

Afghanistan’s Bowling Efforts

Sean Williams played an innings of 154 runs in 174 balls. During his innings, he hit 10 fours and three sixes. While Craig Ervine played an innings of 104 runs in 176 balls. There was a partnership of 163 runs for the fifth wicket between Sean Williams and Craig Ervine.

While Brian Bennett played an innings of 110 runs not out. Brian Bennett hit five fours and four sixes during his innings. For Afghanistan, Ghazanfar took 3 wickets for 127 runs, and Naveed Zadran, Zaheer Khan and Zia-ur-Rahman took two wickets each.
