During the second ODI against Afghanistan on 9 November, Shanto was injured while fielding. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Selector, Ghazi Ashraf Hussain Lipu confirmed this.
“Shanto will not play in the third ODI due to injury,” chief selector Ghazi Ashraf told The Daily Star.
Before the injury, He won the toss for Bangladesh in the second ODI and made a crucial contribution of 76 runs off 119 balls while batting. He hit six fours and a maximum while at the crease. Bangladesh Tigers chased down the target of 253 runs and bundled out Afghanistan for just 184 runs.

Shanto Expresses Disappointment Over Injury
Feels a bit better but still something. Will have to wait for the next match. To be honest, I’m not happy. Maybe I have to bat a bit longer because the wicket was tough against the spin. The way Miraz and Nasoom bowled – credit to them. And the way we started with the new ball – Taskin taking Gurbaz.
He is an important batsman. The way it ended, we got momentum. That’s what I want from Jaker and the lower middle order,” Shanto said after the game.
