Arshdeep Singh Shami’s Fitness: Mohammed Shami was expected to make his much-awaited international comeback in the first match of the series against England at the Eden Gardens yesterday. However, during the toss, Suryakumar Yadav made it clear that the fast bowler would not play.
No clear reason was given for this. As a result, discussions have started on social media regarding Shami’s fitness.
Arshdeep Singh Dismisses Fitness Rumors About Shami
Fellow Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh rubbished all rumours of Shami suffering a fresh injury. He also said that the way the veteran pacer was bowling in the nets was like his 22-year-old son.
“Just yesterday, I was talking to Shami bhai about the same thing because when he was bowling, the way the ball was coming out of his hands was amazing. With every ball, you would say, ‘Wow, how can such an incredible ball come out of someone’s hands like that!'” “Wait a few more days, and you will get to see that bowling and you will be very happy with it.
“The way the ball is coming out of his hands, it seems like 22-year-old Shami bhai is bowling again,” Arshdeep told Geo Cinema in a post-match interview.

Suryakumar Yadav Confirms Mohammed Shami’s Fitness
In the pre-match press conference, Suryakumar confirmed that Shami is fit and ready to play.
“It’s always good to have an experienced bowler in your team and he is making a comeback after more than a year. I am looking forward to seeing him. I have seen his journey – what he did in the NCA and how he focused on his bowling and recovery. It is great to see him fit and back in the team,” Suryakumar noted.
With this, Shami is likely to play in the remaining white-ball series. The only question is when. India won the first match comfortably by seven wickets and will now play the second T20I in Chennai.
