Ashwin Criticizes Harry Brook’s Excuse After Chennai Match

Ashwin Criticizes Harry Brook: India is currently leading the five-match T20I series against England after winning the first two matches in Kolkata and Chennai respectively.

Taking a 2-0 lead, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side is now just one win away from securing another series win. Needless to say, the remaining three matches are now a do-or-die situation for England.

Varun Chakravarthy’s Spin Troubles Harry Brook

Varun Chakravarthy’s spin is doing a lot of damage and one English batsman who has failed to overcome it is Harry Brook. After the Kolkata match, he had said that the fog made it difficult to read Chakravarthy’s delivery.

Interestingly, a similar knock-out incident took place in Chennai too where the mystery spinner once again found a gap between the bat and the pads at a spot where visibility was very good. Many experts criticised Brook for his foggy statement, including former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin Criticizes Harry Brook’s Excuse for Dismissal

There was a lack of fog in Chennai. Harry Brook had earlier said that the lack of fog in Kolkata made it difficult to pick Varun Chakravarthy. “I want to tell Harry Brook: ‘Please understand that Varun Chakravarthy doesn’t bowl much leg spin. It’s a googly’,” Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’.

“You went to the leg stump and couldn’t read the delivery, so you got bowled. Then you covered the stumps and took big steps, but couldn’t read the googly, so you got bowled again. Whatever the light is, if you’re not reading the googly from his hand, you’re not reading the ball from his hand,” Ashwin added.

Talking about the series, the next match will be played on Tuesday, January 28 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Incidentally, Chakravarthy is currently the highest wicket-taker in the series, having taken five wickets in the two matches he has played at an average of 12.20.
