Focus on Enjoying the Game
In the interview, Ashwin mentioned that he doesn’t believe in setting specific targets for his career. He shared that c, the former Indian great, wishes for him to break his record of 619 Test wickets. However, Ashwin emphasized that setting such goals might take away the love he has for the game. He said, “I want to enjoy playing cricket and not get caught up in numbers or records.”

No Plans for Retirement
Ashwin further explained that he’s focused on taking things one day at a time, especially as he grows older. He stated, “I haven’t thought about retirement yet. I’ve worked hard over the last 3-4 years, and the day I feel I’m not improving, I will step away.” Currently, R Ash is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 516 wickets from 100 matches, right behind Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets.
This calm and determined approach shows that Ashwin is still passionate about contributing to Indian cricket and has no immediate plans to retire.
