Australia’s Test Squad for Sri Lanka 2025: The Australian team has been announced for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The Kangaroo team is in high spirits after winning the five-match Test series against India 3-1 in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Now the Australian team will play a Test series against Sri Lanka from 29 January 2025.

Australia Announces Squad for Sri Lanka Test Series 2025

Australia has announced a 16-member squad for this Test series. The team will be captained by Steve Smith, as regular captain Pat Cummins is on home leave due to the birth of his second child.
At the same time, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is also out of the team due to injury. Compared to the Australian team selected for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Kangaroos team for the tour of Sri Lanka has made some changes

Changes and New Faces in Australia’s Squad

Steve Smith will lead the Australian team for the Sri Lanka tour, with Travis Head as his deputy. The Kangaroos have made changes to their squad compared to the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. They have brought back opener Nathan McSweeney, who was dropped earlier due to poor performances against India.

At the same time, all-rounder Cooper Connolly has got a place in the Test team for the first time. His left-arm off-spin can prove useful on Sri Lanka’s spin-hitting pitches.

The team includes Matt Kuenemann and Todd Murphy along with Nathan Lyon as specialist spinners. BO Webster, who performed well on his Test debut against India, has been retained in the squad, while Mitchell Marsh has again been left out.
