Australian media made Virat Kohli the BGT poster boy instead of Captain Rohit Sharma.
The 5-match Test series between India and Australia will begin from November 22. Giving Australia a tough fight will be a challenging task for India. By winning this series, the Indian team can defeat Australia for the third time on Australian soil.
The Indian team won the series 2-1 against Australia in 2018 under the leadership of Virat Kohli. After this, under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, it registered a memorable 2-1 win in the 2020-21 series.
This time, the Test series in Australia is under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma will not be able to play the first Test match to be held in Perth due to personal reasons. He will be part of the team in the second Test match. Rohit is the captain of the Indian team, yet the Australian media is giving more importance to Virat Kohli instead of him. Which seems somewhat unfair.
Kohli’s posters are visible on every media outlet as a demonstration of BGT. Traditionally, promotional posts feature the captains of both teams. However, it seems that the Australian media does not know that the captain of the Indian team is Rohit Sharma. In a way, the Australian media is sidelining Rohit Sharma. A leading Australian news channel 7 has released a poster that has pictures of Virat Kohli along with Australian captain Pat Cummins. This is a sheer injustice to Rohit Sharma.
Why is the Australian media showing Virat Kohli?
Virat Kohli is quite famous as the poster boy of Indian cricket. His popularity is such that his cricket fans give him a lot of love on every cricket field. Virat Kohli is also very popular on social media. Taking advantage of his popularity, the Australian media has promoted this thing. Media can attract more viewers by the name of Virat Kohli. The Australian media is taking full advantage of the popularity of Virat Kohli, who is in the headlines everywhere.
Australian media can get a lot of content from Virat Kohli which Rohit Sharma cannot give them. Indian team captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both are players of a very different nature. Rohit Sharma is of calm nature. He does not remain in the headlines much. Virat is of a cheerful nature and is present everywhere.
Virat Kohli has also got into arguments with Australian players and spectators many times. This kind of content benefits the media. It is clear from this that the Australian media is using Virat Kohli for content. Which is not respectful of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma. Despite being the leader of the team, he is not being featured anywhere.
