For the first time in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup, a pair has scored a century partnership three times. During the match against New Zealand, Pakistan captain Babar Azam and wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan added 105 runs for the first wicket, which is this pair’s third century partnership in the T20 World Cup.

Before this, this happened twice.They also made centuries in the T20 World Cup 2021. Once they did it against the Blue Army, the second time against Namibia. In this way, the pair broke the record held by Adam Gilchrist- Matthew Hayden and Kumar Sangakkara- Mahela Jayawardene.


The pair of Gilchrist-Hayden and Sangakkara-Jayawardene have played a century partnership twice in the T20 World Cup. Now Babar Azam and Rizwan did this for the third time, breaking their record. In the Super-12 round in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the pair of Babar and Rizwan could not show any special feat. Their poor performance was a matter of concern.

Due to which both the players also remained a victim of criticism. Veteran players like former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram have also given their reaction about their pair. They believed that these two should not open the innings together in the semi-final or the final.


Babar Azam’s bat, who was performing slow throughout the tournament, gave best performance in the semi-final.In the semi-final, he returned to form and scored a half-century. Rizwan also played an aggressive innings and scored a half-century. Babar was dismissed for 53 while Rizwan scored 57. New Zealand had scored 152 for four in 20 overs, chasing the target, the North Pakistan team won 153 runs for the loss of three wickets in 19.1 overs. In this way, Pakistan has become the first team to reach the final of the T20 World Cup 2022.
