BCCI Terminates ₹358 Crore Dream11 Jersey Deal

BCCI Terminates ₹358 Crore Dream11 Jersey Deal

New Delhi, August 24, 2025 — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its ₹358 crore jersey sponsorship deal with Dream11 after the central government passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.

The bill imposes a complete ban on real money gaming and prohibits the advertisement and promotion of such platforms. Since Dream11 operates in the fantasy gaming space, the deal had become legally untenable.

BCCI Confirms Termination

In an official statement, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the termination of the agreement:

“BCCI and Dream11 are discontinuing their relationship after the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, was passed. BCCI will ensure not to engage with any such organisations in the future.”

The decision was taken mutually between both parties, as continuing the deal would have violated the new government regulations.

Dream11 Silent, BCCI Seeks New Sponsor

Dream Sports, the parent company of Dream11, had signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the BCCI in 2023. With the agreement now terminated, Team India will head into the Asia Cup 2025 without a jersey sponsor unless the BCCI finalises a new partnership soon.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE, and the BCCI is expected to fast-track talks with potential sponsors over the next two weeks.

Why the Deal Ended

The termination stems directly from the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which was recently passed by both houses of Parliament. The law introduces sweeping restrictions on the online gaming industry:

  • Complete ban on offering or operating real money games

  • Prohibition on advertising or promoting such platforms

  • Ban on financial transactions linked to online money games

  • Power to block access to unlawful gaming platforms

These provisions make it impossible for companies like Dream11 to continue large-scale brand partnerships in India.

What’s Next for BCCI

With the Asia Cup approaching, the BCCI is expected to announce a new jersey sponsor soon. Reports suggest that several consumer brands and tech companies have shown interest, but no official confirmation has been made yet.

The end of the Dream11 partnership also signals a larger shift in Indian cricket sponsorship dynamics, as companies in the fantasy gaming sector — including My11Circle and others — are now restricted from advertising in sports events.
