BCCI’s on Start Culture: After losing the ODI series to Sri Lanka after 27 years, a clean sweep 0-3 against New Zealand in a Test series at home for the first time and losing the Test series 1-3 to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started attacking the star culture of the team’s players.
BCCI Cracks Down on Star Culture
Now the Indian players will not be able to travel with their chef, hairdresser, stylist and personal security personnel during any tournament. These assistants will not be able to stay in the team hotel and will not be able to travel on the bus that runs along with the team bus.
Reports had already reported that after the defeat in Australia, the BCCI had held a review meeting in Mumbai last Saturday.

New Travel and Luggage Rules
In this, the BCCI officials had questioned captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. After this, BCCI decided to make written guidelines, in which it was decided that on a tour of 45 days or more, a player’s wife and family will be able to stay with him for a maximum of 14 days.
For tours of less than this, there will be a limit of one week. Cricketers will use team bus instead of personal vehicle on tour. BCCI source said that it is important to bring indiscipline to the team. Coach Gautam Gambhir wants to end the star culture.
It is known that a wicketkeeper goes with his chef, while a star batsman goes with a large staff including a children’s nanny, and personal security personnel on tour.
Impact on Team Environment
Some other players also take their staff with them. This has a bad effect on the team. All these will not be able to stay in the team hotel and will not be able to go in the bus that goes with the team bus. Till now, all these were seen only in the lobby of the team hotel.
They had access to the rooms of the players in the team hotel. This also affects the other players. This rule will also apply to the personal manager of head coach Gambhir.
It is known that when the team that won the T-20 World Cup in Barbados came to New Delhi by chartered plane, all their support staff was also in the same plane. The source said that one player was not scoring runs but he was travelling with 19 bats on the Australia tour.
The luggage of the family and support staff of many players was being put along with the luggage of the players during the air travel, for which BCCI had to pay the extra luggage fees.
