Controversy Over Taskin Ahmed’s Absence

In the match against India in the Super 8 round of this tournament, there was a mess in the Bangladesh team. Bangladesh vice-captain Taskin Ahmed did not get a place in the playing eleven. Because Taskin Ahmed was sleeping in the hotel. So he could not reach the field on time with the team. But Taskin has now expressed his opinion on this. “My bus missed is real news. But I reached the stadium in time. But I didn’t want to give a chance to play the match,” said Taskin Ahmad. Speaking in Dhaka newspaper Ajker Patrika, Taskin said, “He reached the ground a little late. But I entered the field before the toss. I entered the ground 30 to 40 minutes before Taurus. The bus left the hotel at 8:35 AM. I left at 8:43 to get there. I reached the ground just in time for the bus to arrive. It’s wrong that I didn’t get selected because I arrived late. On the other hand, veteran player Shakib Al Hasan has made the opposite statement along with Taskin Ahmed. Shakib Al Hasan said that because of Taskin’s late arrival, there was a problem in choosing the playing eleven. Shakib Al Hasan told the media, “The bus always leaves at the scheduled time. As a rule, the bus does not wait for anyone. If someone is late in reaching the bus, he can come by car or taxi. Taskin arrived 5-10 minutes before the toss. That made it difficult to pick him in the playing XI.” Shakib further said, “Taskin has apologized to the entire team in this matter and he did not commit this mistake deliberately. So the matter ended there.
Bangladesh’s Performance in the Super 8 Round:
Bangladesh got a place in the Super 8 round by beating Sri Lanka in the league round. But Bangladesh could not win a single match in this round. Defeated Afghanistan and reached the semifinals. Australia beat Bangladesh by 28 runs in the first match of the Super 8 round. India lost the second match by 50 runs. After that, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs.
