CSK Withdraws from Hundred: According to the latest developments surrounding The Hundred, Chennai Super Kings have decided to pull out of the race to acquire a franchise in the tournament.
As a result, the competition is facing Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals regarding the bidding process.
CSK Bows Out of The Hundred Bidding
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the decision in a recent statement. Viswanathan further said that the formalities regarding this decision have also been completed and proper communication has been done with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
โWe have withdrawn and we have formally informed the England and Wales Cricket Board about this,โ Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz on Monday.

Top Teams Eye The Hundred Franchises
Later this week, the ECB is expected to accept financial bids for each participating franchise in the 100-ball tournament. According to the same report, a process is being developed so that if an interested party fails to win a team, it can become the owner of one of the remaining teams.
The eight teams up for sale are Birmingham Phoenix, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire.
The same report said that Reliance Group (owner of Mumbai Indians), Lucknow Super Giantsโ Sanjiv Goenka and a group of tech entrepreneurs have formed a team. They are also understood to be favourites to play with London Spirit and Oval Invincibles.
Sun Group, the owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, is in the race to buy one of Northern Superchargers or Trent Rockets. Birmingham City, a Former Premier League team, is said to be considering buying Birmingham Phoenix.
New Owners to Join from 2026
Sanjay Govil, owner of Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket, could buy Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire. Meanwhile, the Glazers, owners of one of the most prestigious teams in the Premier League, Manchester United, could be in the running to buy the franchise.
The final stage of bidding and negotiations is likely to begin on Friday, January 31. However, it is learnt that the new owners will only come into the picture from the 2026 season. This is due to the completion of paperwork and other formalities, which will take a few months to complete.
