Nitish Reddy Fights, But India-B Collapses
In India-B’s second innings, Nitish Reddy was the only batsman who tried to stay at the crease and he remained not out after scoring 40 runs. However, no other batsman supported him, due to which India-B had to face a huge defeat of 257 runs. When the game started on the fourth day, Bhui was playing at a personal score of 90. After this, he completed his 19th first-class century. On the third day, India-D had scored 244 runs at the loss of five wickets, to which 59 runs were added on the fourth day.
While chasing the target, India-B’s team collapsed in the beginning itself. In the eighth over itself, three of their batsmen returned to the pavilion. Musheer Khan, who played a brilliant innings of 181 runs in his first Duleep Trophy match, returned to the pavilion on a score of zero. This was the third time in the last five innings that he was out on a score of zero.
Arshdeep Singh’s exceptional performance was the key factor in India-D’s dominant victory, sealing their place as Duleep Trophy champions.
